[Photos/Images] The Dashing Hero Himmel Maxed Out, His Gift to Frieren was Shocking 1st

"'To make sure you won't be alone in the future'” - many people were shocked by the "present" left by the hero Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto), exclaiming, "Is there such a way of expressing love!?". The form of love Himmel has for Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki), which was revealed in episode 7 of the anime "Frieren at the Funeral", was too handsome for anyone to compete with.

Himmel, the hero from the party that once defeated the Demon King alongside Frieren, is a self-proclaimed handsome narcissist, yet he is also incredibly kind-hearted, unable to ignore those in need. He cares deeply for his companions, especially Frieren, and she was profoundly influenced by him in return.

In episode 7, we see Himmel's feelings for Frieren. Having protected and helped many people from demons, Himmel had statues of himself erected in various places. When Frieren asked why he had so many statues made, sometimes having craftsmen redo them multiple times, Himmel replied, "I want everyone to remember me. Unlike you, we don't live that long." He then displayed his narcissistic side by adding, "I need to make sure my handsome image is passed down to future generations." However, he soon revealed his true feelings, saying, "But the main reason is so that you won't be lonely in the future." Himmel wanted to leave proof of their existence so that Frieren, an elf with a lifespan incomparable to humans, would not feel alone.

Twenty-eight years after Himmel's death, Frieren visited a town they once saved from demons. There, she witnessed a festival held annually to honor the hero party, seeing Himmel's statue adorned in the square. Remembering Himmel's words, Frieren pondered, "I wonder if this will still be happening in 100 years?" contemplating the future of the festival.

Many viewers were moved by the sentiment behind Himmel's statues, expressing, "Himmel is truly a kind and handsome hero," "What a noble hero he is," and "Isn't this hero too handsome?" The statues, which could be seen as a timeless gift to Frieren, left a strong impression on the audience as well.

The currently streaming anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is based on the manga of the same name by author Kanehito Yamada and artist Tsukasa Abe, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday." Set in a world after the Demon King has been defeated, it follows the 1,000-year-old elf mage Frieren on a journey to understand humans, accompanied by her apprentice Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose) and warrior Stark (CV: Chiaki Kobayashi).

The original manga, which has received tremendous support and numerous awards, has over 22 million copies in circulation with 13 volumes published. The TV anime aired from September 2023 to March 2024, becoming a massive hit with related keywords trending on X (formerly Twitter) after each episode.
