In episode 96 of the anime "Chiikawa," Chiikawa (CV:Haruka Aoki) and Hachiware (CV: Makoto Tanaka) watch a scary website. Episode 97 depicts the scene where the two, having enjoyed the scary site, return home from the internet cafe.
Once alone, Hachiware starts to feel anxious, and when the lights suddenly go out, he is startled, thinking it might be a ghostly phenomenon. Hachiware wonders if Chiikawa might still be around and decides to head back along the path they came from. As it turns out, Chiikawa is also running towards Hachiware, crying. Once they reunite, they hold hands, crying from relief, and then jump with joy.
This scene received comments like "I'm glad they reunited" and "Their relieved expressions are heartwarming." Many also commented on the two jumping with joy, saying, "They're too cute" and "Precious."
"Chiikawa" is a popular manga series started by illustrator Nagano in 2020, posted on X (formerly Twitter). It won the Grand Prix at the 'Japan Character Award 2022' and again in the 'Japan Character Award 2024,' announced in July 2024.
The small, cute characters and the contrast with the harsh world they inhabit have gained popularity among a wide audience, from adults to children, with the series now surpassing 3.73 million followers. The anime version of "Chiikawa" is currently airing on Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Friday around 7:40 AM.
