Truly a Zeon Knight! Even “The Vase Guy” is Delighted by the Newly Designed Mobile Suit of the Reiwa Era!? [Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX]

Is such a “M’quve-winning” development really allowed!? In episode 7 of "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," there’s no doubt every fan of "Mobile Suit Gundam" was excited by the scene where the Gyan suddenly appears and rescues Kycillia Zabi (voiced by Kaori Nazuka) from danger.

The latest entry in the series, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," features a parallel-world story of "Mobile Suit Gundam," with familiar characters and mobile suits making their appearances one after another. In episode 7, a crisis approaches Kycillia at the hands of the Psycho Gundam, and just as things look grim, Gyan swoops in from above to save Kycillia in her moment of need.

At that time, the pilot of the Gyan was Xavier Olivette (voiced by Seiichirō Yamashita) of the Principality of Zeon military, but when you say Gyan, everyone remembers it as M’quve’s beloved machine from the original "Mobile Suit Gundam."

Though it wasn’t M’quve himself piloting, as someone deeply loyal to Kycillia with strong feelings for the Gyan, the development—“the Gyan saves Kycillia”—must have been very gratifying for M’quve. Moreover, the name of Gyan’s large combined weapon, “Hakuji,” seems to be inspired by M’quve’s penchant for collecting antiques like white porcelain vases in "Mobile Suit Gundam."

The web was abuzz with excitement over the newly designed, Reiwa-era Gyan, which keeps the image of “Kycillia’s knight” intact. Fans commented, “As expected, when it comes to Kycillia’s knight, it has to be Gyan!!!” “Xavier’s White Knight Gyan looks way too cool…” and “Reiwa’s Gyan is just too awesome.” Gyan’s exploits have even been jokingly called “the dream M’quve had,” sparking more conversation.

Of course, M’quve also appears in "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," played by the popular voice actor Tomokazu Sugita. This casting also drew attention, with fans saying, “Sugita as M’quve just feels perfectly natural,” and “I love Sugita’s take on M’quve.”

"Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" is the latest in the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, which has been ongoing since 1979. It tells the story of Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), a high school girl leading a peaceful life on a space colony, who becomes drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling competition known as "Clan Battle" after meeting a mysterious girl named Nyaan (voiced by Yui Ishikawa). Co-produced by Studio Khara, known for the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series, and Sunrise, the advance theatrical release which premiered ahead of the TV series this January was a massive hit, grossing approximately 3.4 billion yen. It has also been decided to have a nationwide re-release in 368 theaters starting June 20.
