It was announced on the 28th that "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Part 1: Akaza Returns," which has been screening in theaters nationwide since July 18th, surpassed a cumulative box office revenue of approximately 12.87 billion yen within just 10 days of release. Furthermore, the film became the fastest in history among movies screened in Japan to surpass 10 billion yen, achieving this feat in only 8 days. This breaks the previous record set by "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train" (released in October 2020), which took 10 days to reach 10 billion yen, making it the new all-time No. 1.
The anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba" is a television adaptation of the manga of the same name, which was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump (Shueisha) from 2016 to 2020. Sparked by the anime broadcast in April 2019, it became a social phenomenon, and the cumulative number of copies of the 23 manga volumes exceeded 220 million. On the 22nd, it was reported that "Infinity Castle Part 1" drew 3.84 million viewers in its first three days, earning 5.52 billion yen, setting new all-time records for opening performance, first-day, and single-day box office revenue.
The first television anime series, "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," was followed by "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train," which depicted the "Mugen Train Arc." With total box office earnings of approximately 51.7 billion yen, it became the highest-grossing film of all time in Japan. From 2021 to 2022, the television anime series "Mugen Train Arc" and "Entertainment District Arc" aired, followed by the "Swordsmith Village Arc" in 2023, and the "Hashira Training Arc" in 2024.
On the 27th, a new key visual was released, depicting scenes of the protagonist Tanjiro Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae), the Water Hashira Giyū Tomioka (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai) of the Demon Slayer Corps, and Akaza (Upper Rank Three, voiced by Akira Ishida) in battle.
