In episode 31, Maomao and Jinshi, along with the Emperor, visit the maze-like "Shrine of Choices." Maomao figured out the method to select the correct path and asked the old eunuch managing the shrine (CV: Yoshito Yasuhara), "Is it possible to go through once more?" However, the old eunuch refused, saying, "We can't have people going in again and again,” and added, "Moreover, you are neither a consort nor a princess."

Then the Emperor said, "Well then, shall I make her (Maomao) a consort?" Jinshi seemed to take this joke seriously and, abruptly raising his voice, admonished the Emperor, "Please, Your Majesty! What would the other consorts think!"

The TV anime aired continuously for two cours starting October 2023, gaining great popularity and significant attention with its mystery narratives featuring Maomao working as a "food taster" in the inner palace, as well as the comical interactions between Maomao and Jinshi. The anime's second season will air starting January 2025, and in July, the production of a sequel was also announced.
