It has been announced that the cumulative box office revenue of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle- Act 1: Akaza Returns," which has been released in theaters nationwide since July 18, has exceeded about 25.7 billion yen in 31 days of release. The audience mobilization for the 31 days of release was 18,272,941 people, with a box office revenue of 25,782,656,600 yen. In the domestic all-time box office revenue ranking, it surpassed "Frozen," which was released in 2014, and achieved the 4th place in history.
The anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is an adaptation of the manga with the same name, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from 2016 to 2020. The anime broadcast in April 2019 triggered a boom that became a social phenomenon, and the cumulative circulation of the comic series has exceeded 220 million copies.
The movie "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train," which follows the first TV anime series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," achieved a total box office revenue of approximately 51.7 billion yen and ranked as the highest-grossing film in Japan's history. From 2021 to 2022, the TV anime "Mugen Train Arc" and "Entertainment District Arc" aired and streamed, followed by the "Swordsmith Village Arc" in 2023 and the "Hashira Training Arc" in 2024.
"The first chapter of Infinity Castle" attracted 3.84 million viewers in the first three days of its release, recording a box office revenue of 5.52 billion yen, and updated the records for the highest opening, first day, and single day gross in history. The film grossed approximately 12.87 billion yen in 10 days since its release. The breaking of 10 billion yen in 8 days since its release was the fastest in the history of films screened in Japan, and it updated the record of "Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train" (released in October 2020) which broke 10 billion in 10 days, becoming the No. 1 in history.
Starting on August 15, screenings in MX4D and 4DX formats will commence, and on August 17, the fourth key visual featuring the confrontation between Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho (CV: Saori Hayami), and Upper Rank 2, Doma (CV: Mamoru Miyano) was released.
