[Photos/Images] New Story Visual for Anime “The Summer Hikaru Died” Revealed; Behind-the-Scenes “Horror Edition” Making Movie Also Released 1st

A new story visual for the TV anime “The Summer Hikaru Died” has been revealed. The new visual depicts Yoshiki and Hikaru on their way home at dusk, creating a sense of anticipation for further developments in the story.

“The Summer Hikaru Died” is a coming-of-age horror series depicting the unusual incidents that occur around an ordinary high school boy, Yoshiki Tsujinaka (voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi), as he spends his days with Hikaru (voiced by Shūichirō Umeda), a mysterious being mimicking his childhood friend Hikaru Indou. Since its broadcast began on July 5, the show has garnered attention for its atmosphere of fear born from the visuals and sound, as well as its story. After the release of episode two, it ranked number one on the ABEMA “Today’s Series TOP 10” (Japan). It continued to hold the number one spot in the ABEMA anime weekly rankings for three consecutive weeks.

Additionally, a behind-the-scenes making-of series has begun. The first installment, the “Horror Edition,” is now available on YouTube and features exclusive interviews with director Ryohei Takeshita and main staff members, as well as a focus on production materials.

Furthermore, on ABEMA, every episode of “The Summer Hikaru Died” up to the latest is available to watch for free until 9:00 PM on Saturday, August 23.
