The sight of Nezuko (voiced by Akari Kitō) with bunny ears is truly something special... In episode 3 of the TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc," fans were absolutely smitten by this rare and adorable version of Nezuko.
In episode 3 of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc," Tanjirō Kamado (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) and his companions are put to sleep by a demon's ability. Within the dream that Inosuke Hashibira (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) has, Tanjirō and his friends become Inosuke’s underlings and go exploring inside a cave. In this sequence, Tanjirō appears as "Ponjiro," sprouting tanuki (raccoon dog) ears and a tail, while Zenitsu Agatsuma (voiced by Hiro Shimono) is turned into "Chūitsu," inspired by a mouse. Nezuko also transforms into a cute form with bunny ears. When Nezuko lagged behind, Inosuke called to her, "Come here! Look! I’ll give you a shiny acorn!" offering her an acorn. Nezuko reacted promptly to the acorn and showed her motivation to act as Inosuke’s underling.
Fans were absolutely enchanted by the small animal-like "bunny-eared Nezuko," exclaiming things like “Bunny Nezuko!” and “Nezuko is adorable as always today!”
In this episode, Nezuko’s charm spills over in other scenes as well—such as her smiling and chatting with Zenitsu within the dream, or desperately trying to wake the still-sleeping Tanjirō with a headbutt—making it truly an episode filled with Nezuko’s lovable moments.
The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same title by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020. The story is set in the Taisho era and follows the battles of Tanjirō Kamado, a boy whose family was killed by demons. The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a huge sensation. Its sequel, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train," surpassed 50 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The total worldwide circulation of the original manga has now reached 220 million copies, making it a monumental hit in the history of Japanese manga and anime.
The TV anime continued on from the "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" with the “Entertainment District Arc,” “Swordsmith Village Arc,” and “Hashira Training Arc,” followed by the announcement of a tri-part movie adaptation of the climactic "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle." "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Part 1: Akaza's Return," which has been in theaters since July 18, 2025, has already grossed 28 billion yen within 38 days of release.
