It has been announced that the cumulative box office revenue for "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle - Part 1: Akaza Returns," which has been screening in theaters nationwide since July 18, has surpassed approximately 33 billion yen in its first 60 days. The film has attracted an audience of 23,042,671 people, grossing 33,056,066,300 yen. This surpasses the record set by "Spirited Away" released in 2001, making it the second highest-grossing domestic film of all time in Japan.

The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime is an adaptation of the manga of the same name, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from 2016 to 2020. Spurred by the anime broadcast in April 2019, the series became a social phenomenon, with total circulation of the 23 volumes of the manga surpassing 220 million copies.

Following the first TV anime series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train," which depicted the "Mugen Train Arc," achieved a total box office revenue of approximately 51.7 billion yen and ranks first in all-time box office revenue in Japan. From 2021 to 2022, the "Mugen Train Arc" and "Entertainment District Arc" were broadcast as TV anime, followed by the "Swordsmith Village Arc" in 2023, and the "Hashira Training Arc" in 2024.

"Infinity Castle - Part 1" set a new record for the largest opening and single-day box office in Japanese film history, with 3.84 million attendees and 5.52 billion yen in revenue over its first three days. In just 10 days, the box office surpassed approximately 12.87 billion yen. Breaking the 10 billion yen mark just eight days after opening was the fastest ever for any film screened in Japan, making it history’s top performer, surpassing even "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train" (released October 2020), which previously held the record by hitting 10 billion yen in 10 days.

Starting August 15, screenings in MX4D and 4DX formats began. In mid-August, the film rolled out across Asian countries, starting with Taiwan, then Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, and more. Further expansion will take place in over 70 countries during September, including a release in the United States and Canada from September 12.
