“To Express Her Playful Innocence”: Cosplayer Amane Ally on Posing as Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Dark Magician Girl

The "Tokyo Game Show 2025" (TGS 2025) was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture from September 25th to 28th, 2025. We present photos of cosplayer Amane Allie, who participated in a cosplay of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Black Magician Girl (officially: Dark Magician Girl), and interviewed her about what she aimed to express with the costume and what cosplays she hopes to try next.

—— Is this your first time cosplaying as Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Dark Magician Girl?

Amane Allie (Amane): I actually cosplayed Dark Magician Girl a few years ago, but I purchased a brand-new outfit for this year's TGS appearance.

—— What were the key points you focused on for this particular cosplay?

Amane: I made an effort to strike exaggerated poses, like raising my leg, to really bring out Dark Magician Girl's playful, innocent spirit.

—— How did you first get into Yu-Gi-Oh!?

Amane: My mother watched it, so it's an anime I've been familiar with since I was a child. I love the series so much that I still rewatch the anime many times even now.

—— Do you have any future cosplay plans you can share with us?

Amane: I'm not sure when it will happen, but I'd like to try cosplaying other characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, such as Silent Magician and Magician's Valkyria.

Amane, who focused on capturing Dark Magician Girl's innocent spirit, is now set to take on her next cosplay challenge from the Yu-Gi-Oh! series she has loved since childhood. We look forward to seeing what she tries next.
