[Photos/Images] The Doraemon New Year's Eve Special for 2025 Will Feature "Umatake" as the Star, Inspired by Next Year's Zodiac Sign! A Grand Adventure on a Mysterious Planet 1st

The broadcast of the 2025 Doraemon New Year's Eve Special has been confirmed. The 'Omisoka da yo! Doraemon Ichijikan Supesharu' (It's New Year's Eve! Doraemon One-Hour Special), airing from 9:00 AM JST on December 31st, will feature an original episode starring the new future creature Umatake, themed around the next year's zodiac sign, the Horse. Doraemon, Nobita, and Umatake embark on a grand adventure on a mysterious planet.

Umatake is a new creature created by 22nd-century science, a combination of a horse and a bamboo. It is highly prideful and difficult to handle when angered, but if you manage to ride it properly, it can run at incredible speeds. Historically, Umatake has caused trouble for Nobita and the others every time it has appeared. The new story, 'Space Western: Koya no Umatake' (Umatake of the Wasteland), which will be broadcast in the one-hour special, follows Doraemon and friends as they use a "Purpose-Specific Planet Exploration Shuttle" to search for a planet where they can play with Umatake. An unexpected encounter awaits them upon their arrival at "UMA Planet."

The broadcast will also introduce the latest information on 'Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Undersea Devil Castle,' scheduled for release in February 2026. A special giveaway campaign unique to the New Year's Eve Special is also planned.

Furthermore, as a continuous project leading up to the New Year's Eve Special, 'Oshigoto! Naruniwa Zukan' (Job Guide! How to Become One) will be broadcast over three consecutive weeks from November 22nd to December 6th. The special segment will introduce people who shine in various jobs, such as florists, product developers for the bento chain "Hotto Motto," and dictionary creators, with an original episode also being broadcast each week.

Note that the November 15th broadcast will be a two-part episode featuring 'Hito-yoke Gyro' (Person-Repelling Gyro) and 'Suneo yori Kanemochi ga Yatte Kita' (Someone Richer Than Suneo Has Come).
