The anime 'My Hero Academia' is based on the immensely popular manga by Kohei Horikoshi, serialized in 'Weekly Shonen Jump', with the comic series surpassing 100 million copies in cumulative worldwide circulation. The story depicts the growth, battles, and friendship of protagonist Izuku Midoriya and his classmates in a world where approximately 80% of the population possesses some form of supernatural ability called a "Quirk".
Starting from Season 1 in April 2016, the anime 'My Hero Academia' (also known as 'MHA') has been running for about 10 years, spanning a total of 8 seasons and 170 episodes as a TV anime, during which 4 theatrical films and 7 original anime productions were also released. In 2026, marking the memorable year of the anime's 10th anniversary, the 10th Anniversary Project [My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary] has been confirmed.
One of the highlights of this project is the production of a new anime. Episode No.431 "More", an original episode by Horikoshi that was not published during the 'Weekly Shonen Jump' serialization but was included in the final Volume 42 of the original manga, will be adapted into anime. It will be broadcast on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at 17:30 on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV network's 29 affiliated stations nationwide.
"More" is a story depicting the further future of Deku and Class 1-A, who have become professional heroes, 8 years after graduating from U.A. High School. It received worldwide acclaim when Volume 42 was released, and there were voices calling for its anime adaptation even after the TV anime's final episode aired.
