Eat That Drug or the Culprit?! "Detective Conan Cafe" Report Featuring Unique Menus

The "Detective Conan Cafe," which has been open at BOX cafe&space Grandscape Ikebukuro since Friday, April 17, switched to its second-half menu on Wednesday, May 20. This cafe commemorates the release of the movie "Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi," featuring a lineup of dishes that allow guests to visually enjoy the world of "Detective Conan."

In this article, we will bring you a report on the "Detective Conan Cafe" after its transition to the second-half menu.

At the entrance and inside the "Detective Conan Cafe," key visuals with a retro-modern atmosphere inspired by a Western-style mansion are displayed. It features the protagonist, Conan Edogawa, along with Chihaya Hagiwara—who also appears as a main character in the movie "Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi"—and other major characters. After watching the film, fans can enjoy reliving the world of the series here.

Near the entrance, there is also an illustration drawn by Gōshō Aoyama himself, making it a must-see for fans.

While a wide variety of menus can be enjoyed at the "Detective Conan Cafe," let's highlight some selections from the second-half menu.

First, from the food menu, we have the visually high-impact "APTX 4869 Curry ~The Ordered Drug~." This unique dish features rice shaped like the capsule drug that caused Shinichi Kudo's body to shrink into Conan Edogawa, which you eat by pouring curry over it. The portion is quite large, so it is recommended to share it with friends.

It is a mild curry packed with ingredients, making it a highly satisfying dish in terms of flavor as well.

Next, from the dessert menu, we chose "The 'Culprit' is Right There!? Parfait ~With the Murder Weapon~." A signature feature of "Detective Conan" is that culprits are depicted entirely in black before their true identity is revealed, and this parfait features that very culprit staring right at you. While it has an overwhelming visual presence, it also offers a quirky way to enjoy it before eating.

One of three types of murder weapons is randomly served with the parfait. By striking and cracking open the culprit's head with it, berry sauce pours out from inside. This gimmick might even make you empathize with the culprit's feelings.

A staple of the annual "Detective Conan Cafe," "Conan Edogawa's Bowtie Voice Changer Cream Soda," returns this year as well. True to its name, this refreshing cream soda is adorned with a bowtie-shaped voice changer, and its color scheme perfectly recreates Conan Edogawa's signature look.

In addition to the second-half menu, the all-period menu is also available. The food lineup includes "The 'Windy' Beef Stew Hamburg Steak" served on a special Conan Cafe plate.

"Conan Edogawa's Shortcake," inspired by Conan Edogawa and accompanied by blue cheese snacks, can also be enjoyed as a dessert. The creamy flavor of the cheese adds depth to its sweetness.

We would also like to introduce a part of the Movie Release Commemorative MENU vol.2, available from Friday, May 29 to Sunday, June 21. "Conan Edogawa & Masumi Sera's Mint Genovese Pasta," inspired by Conan Edogawa and Masumi Sera, is another dish where blue cheese snacks serve as an accent.

Each menu item comes with order bonuses such as clear cards and original coasters. A wide variety of merchandise is also available for purchase, so please enjoy them alongside the food. The "Detective Conan Cafe" is currently open or scheduled to open at 10 locations nationwide, starting with the Tokyo Ikebukuro venue.
