It has been confirmed that "Just Like Mona Lisa" will receive an anime adaptation. Along with the initial unveiling of the teaser visual, a newly drawn commemorative illustration and joyful comments have arrived from the original creator, Tsumuji Yoshimura.

This work is a manga by Tsumuji Yoshimura, serialized on "Gangan ONLINE" operated by Square Enix, and is a popular title that has surpassed 1 million copies in cumulative circulation. Set in a world where people's bodies begin to change into their desired gender around the age of 12 and settle as either male or female at age 14, this youth ensemble drama depicts the protagonist, Hinase, who remains the only "genderless" individual even at the age of 18, as he confronts his own identity, romance, and way of being.

The animation production for this work will be handled by Shaft, a highly talented animation studio that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025. Having received high acclaim both domestically and internationally for its unique visual expressions and direction in works such as the "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" series, the "Monogatari Series," and "March Comes in Like a Lion," the studio will beautifully depict the delicate and vibrant worldview of this work through animation.

Furthermore, participation has been confirmed for "AnimagiC 2026," one of Europe's largest anime conventions, to be held in Mannheim, Germany, starting Friday, July 31. On Saturday, August 1 (local time), a special panel stage will be held to unveil the main cast information and the "teaser PV," marking the world premiere of the work's first video footage.

In addition to a live drawing session by Yoshimura, the stage will feature a special talk show with Yoshimura, Mitsutoshi Kubota of Shaft, and Manami Kabashima, a producer from CyberAgent's Anime & IP Business Division. The event will deliver the unique charm of this work, including behind-the-scenes insights into production and their dedication to the creative process.
