Yanineko Reported as a Suspicious Person… Episode 3 Synopsis and Preview Scene Cuts Released for Anime 'Chainsmoker Cat'

The synopsis and preview scene cuts for Episode 3, 'I'm More of a Straight Man Than a Funny Guy, Nya,' of the TV anime 'Chainsmoker Cat' — airing on TOKYO MX, BS11, AT-X, and more — have been released.

The series is based on the manga of the same name by Nyannyan Factory, serialized in Kodansha's Young Magazine. Set in a world where humans and beast-people coexist, it's a comedy depicting the loose but hopeless daily life of Yanineko (voiced by Yuko Natsuyoshi), a chain-smoking, do-nothing beast-person, and the cat-eared residents around him.

The TV anime "Chainsmoker Cat" has been airing since July 2026, broadcasting every Thursday at 24:30 on TOKYO MX and BS11, and from July 25 every Saturday at 24:30 on AT-X (with repeat broadcasts every Thursday at 28:00). It is also being streamed on Netflix and other streaming services, rolling out every Thursday at 25:00 starting July 2.

Episode 3: "I'm More of a Straight Man Than a Funny Guy, Nya" [Synopsis]
Yanineko joined some kids playing soccer in the park, only to get reported as a suspicious person. Well, of course he did. Back at his apartment, his landlord blows up at him again today, lectures him, and orders him to quit smoking. Still, this guy shows zero remorse. In the end, he's made to pull weeds instead of paying rent, but his nicotine-addled eyes keep drifting toward the landlord's cabbage patch... Whether or not there's a cigarette involved, leaving Yanineko alone never ends well. That's this episode's lesson (sort of).
