PUI PUI MOLCAR to Get New Episode From Director Tomoki Misato After Nearly 5 Years to Mark 5th Anniversary! Footage and Comments Revealed

The anime PUI PUI MOLCAR has announced a new special episode directed by Tomoki Misato to celebrate the 5th anniversary of its TV broadcast. Along with the announcement, teaser footage stills and a teaser visual have been unveiled, and a comment from director Misato has arrived.

PUI PUI MOLCAR is a stop-motion anime depicting a world where guinea pigs transform into cars. Since the first season began airing in 2021, the gap between its adorable world and dynamic visuals sparked huge reactions both in Japan and overseas, triggering a worldwide boom. The franchise has continued to expand ever since, going beyond the TV spin-off PUI PUI MOLCAR DRIVING SCHOOL and manga adaptations, with the CG animated film Pui Pui Molcar the Movie: MOLMAX released in 2024 — making it an immensely popular series that keeps broadening its scope.

PUI PUI MOLCAR has now marked its 5th anniversary since its 2021 broadcast debut. To celebrate, production of a long-awaited special episode has been greenlit, and it has been announced that series creator Tomoki Misato will direct for the first time since Season 1 of the TV anime.

This time's story centers on Choco, whose birthday falls on August 10. The released teaser footage opens with a shocking twist: Potato, chasing a rabbit carrying a carrot in its mouth, falls into a dark hole at a construction site. The ending features a striking shot of the light-blue flower accessory Choco wears, hinting at a new wave of chaos unfolding around Choco.

Along with this reveal, director Misato — returning to the role for the first time in roughly five years since Season 1 of the 2021 TV series — has also sent a comment expressing his enthusiasm to fans.
