TV Anime Season 3 Celebration! Bookstore Fair for The Apothecary Diaries With Special POP Display Gifts Begins October 1

To celebrate the broadcast of TV anime season 3, a comics fair for The Apothecary Diaries: Maomao’s Notes on the Inner Palace (original work by Hyuganatsu, art by Minoji Kurata, character original design by Touco Shino) will be held at participating bookstores nationwide, starting Thursday, October 1.

The series is an anime based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu, and it is also a major hit as a manga adaptation serialized in two monthly magazines. Maomao's detective-style mysteries after being put to work as a "poison taster" in the inner palace, along with the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi, won popularity and became a big topic of conversation. The TV anime has aired through season 2. Season 3 has been announced as a split two-cour broadcast, running from October 2026 and from April 2027, and the series' first theatrical film is also scheduled for release in December 2026.

At this fair, which covers the series currently serialized in Monthly Sunday Gene-X, a special clear shelf-edge POP display that can be used on a bookshelf at home will be handed out. There are three designs in all, Maomao, Jinshi, and Maomao & Jinshi together, and the limited-edition item is dotted with expressive scenes of the two characters. It can also be cut out and used as a clear bookmark or clear card.

Details such as participating bookstores and eligible products can be found on the series' official website. Eligible products differ by bookstore, and the novelty items are available in limited quantities while supplies last. In some regions, the fair may start at a different time.

In addition, for a limited 72 hours from Friday, October 2 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, a campaign will let readers read the series free through chapter 51 on Shogakukan's app and website, Sunday Webry. It offers a chance to look back on the content covered through TV anime season 2.
