Phantom Busters to Get 2027 TV Anime; Teaser Visual Unveiled With Cast Including Nobuhiko Okamoto

The teaser visual and main staff and cast information have been unveiled for Phantom Busters, which will be adapted into an anime in 2027.

The work is a manga written by Neoshoco and currently serialized in Shueisha's Jump SQ. The collected volumes have surpassed 1.4 million copies in circulation (including digital editions). The series is highly popular, having ranked 2nd in the 2025 edition of the nationwide booksellers' recommended comics selection and 4th in the 2025 ranking of manga readers want to see adapted into anime, and the TV anime adaptation is drawing even more attention.

The newly released teaser visual features the four-member group Phantom Busters: Mogari Shishikuno (Mogari), the story's protagonist, along with Eugene Korekishi (Korekishi), Kaoru Kanzaki (Zaki), and Kotaro Tamon (Tamon). It shows Mogari bursting forward to boldly devour a spirit while the others get swept along, hinting at the start of a chaotic youth adventure.

The main staff includes Chika Nagaoka as director, who also directed the Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram film and Tamon's B-Side. Character design is by Takahiro Kishida (character design for Haikyu!!) and Rina Iwamoto (character design and animation for Akuma no Memumemu-chan), bringing together a lineup of talented creators. Animation production is handled by TOHO animation STUDIO (most recent work: The Apothecary Diaries).

The main cast was announced as well. Mogari Shishikuno, a wild guy with the power to devour spirits, will be played by Nobuhiko Okamoto (Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist, among other roles). Eugene Korekishi, a top student with zero spiritual sensitivity, will be played by Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer, among other roles). Kaoru Kanzaki, a manga otaku who can see spirits, will be played by Koki Uchiyama (Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, among other roles). Kotaro Tamon, who can talk to spirits but is uncomfortable around people, will be played by Ryota Suzuki (Morihito Otogi in Witch Watch, among other roles).
