Maoｍao's Ingenious Plan to Meet the Moon Spirit... Synopsis & Preview of Episode 29 of the Anime "The Apothecary Diaries" Released! New Cast Members Announced

From the anime "The Apothecary Diaries", the synopsis and preview of episode 29, as well as new cast members, have been revealed.

"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime based on the novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. Set in the imperial harem, it follows a girl named Maoｍao, who becomes a poison taster and uses her knowledge of poisons and medicines to solve various difficult cases that occur within the palace. This is a harem mystery entertainment series.

The series has also been adapted into a manga in two monthly magazines: "Big Gangan" (SQUARE ENIX) and "Sunday GX" (Shogakukan), with a total of 38 million copies in print. The TV anime aired for two consecutive cours from October 2023, featuring the detective dramas of Maoｍao, a rare poison-loving girl, and her comical interactions with the handsome eunuch Mr. Jin, which won first place in the X Trend. From January 10, 2025 (Fri), the second season has started airing for two consecutive cours.

The cast for the beautiful envoys who appear in episode 29, who look like twins, has been announced. Lynn will play Aer, and Yumi Hara will play Airin.

Episode 29: "Moon Spirit"
[Synopsis]
In order to meet the impossible demand of a special envoy who wants to see the "Moon Spirit," Maoｍao listens to the story from the shrewd old woman of Ryokushokan, who has been in the red-light district for over 50 years, about the "Moon Spirit" from that time. Based on the fantastical painting that the envoy's grandfather had made after returning to his country and the story from that time, Maoｍao heads to the peach orchard in the inner palace where the Moon Spirit is said to have performed a dance. There, by chance, she encounters Kosui, who has come to catch insects, and while talking, Maoｍao comes up with a certain secret plan. On the day of the banquet inviting the envoy, under the moon of the sixteenth night, a beautiful Moon Spirit appears before the envoys.

The role of Aira, a beautiful envoy from a foreign country who presents an impossible challenge to Jinshi, will be played by Lynn, and the role of Airin will be played by Yumi Hara.
