The ninth episode of the anime "Medalist," based on the popular figure skating manga that has swept multiple manga awards, is currently airing as of March 1st. Ema Yamato (voiced by Kotori Koiwai), who has been tirelessly working hard despite not achieving results, delivered a stunning skating performance that resonated with viewers, prompting comments such as "The time and effort she invested are on another level" and "She's pouring all her past frustrations into this."
In Episode 9, "The Strong Rival from the West (Part 2)," Ema's past, who belongs to the Rengecha FSC, was revealed. Although Ema is hardworking, she had been unable to achieve results until now. However, she never gave up, and even when she failed a test, she tearfully yet resolutely declared, "I'm really bad at this and it makes me hate it, but I'll never hate skating."
During the actual competition, Ema successfully executed a high-difficulty jump. Inori Yuitsuka (voiced by Natsumi Haruse), who competes in the same tournament, also remarked, "Ema-chan's choreography and jumps aren't something that became good in just one go. It's skating that has been built up with many good points."
