"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime adaptation based on the light novel of the same name by Natsu Hyuuga. It has been serialized into manga in two monthly magazines and has surpassed 40 million copies in total series circulation. The TV anime aired continuously for two seasons starting in October 2023, gaining significant attention and popularity for its mystery drama featuring Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yuuki) as a poison tester in the imperial harem, and the comical interactions between Maomao and the handsome eunuch Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Otsuka). The second season has been airing since January 2025.

At one point, Jinshi decides to disguise himself to go out into town, aiming to appear like a commoner. Meanwhile, Maomao, who applied makeup to Jinshi, also ends up disguising herself and joining him on the town outing. Transforming from her usual plain appearance to a more glamorous outfit with makeup, Jinshi calls her "my lady" and immerses himself in the role of her attendant, starting to walk joyfully.
