[Photos/Images] Low Tolerance for Taunts... Light Yagami Falls for L's Scheme in the Anime "Death Note" 1st

It's almost amusing how Light, who undoubtedly possesses a sharp mind, makes a fatal mistake just because he's provoked. During ICPO's worldwide special live broadcast, when Lind L. Tailor taunts Light Yagami (voiced by Mamoru Miyano) by calling him "evil," the genius Light, with low tolerance for taunts, impulsively writes down the name of the person on TV. Little did he know it was a trap set by L (voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi).

The anime "Death Note" is based on the manga of the same name written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (published by Shueisha) from December 2003 to May 2006. The manga has sold over 21 million copies. The story revolves around the protagonist, Light Yagami, who accidentally picks up a notebook dropped by a Shinigami. This notebook has a terrifying rule: "Anyone whose name is written in this notebook will die." As Light begins to execute death sentences on criminals in the world, he gradually becomes known as "Kira." The series depicts the intense mental and psychological battle between Light, aiming to be the "god of the new world" by executing justice, and the genius detective L, who is pursuing Kira as a mass murderer. It has been adapted into live-action films and dramas not only in Japan but also overseas.

Once Light realizes the Death Note's effects are real, he continues to write the names of wrongdoers in the notebook, driven by his belief in transforming the world into an ideal one devoid of evil. This abnormal situation, where criminals are suddenly dying worldwide, prompts the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) to gather representatives from various countries for an emergency meeting.

Is this a case of murder, or is it mere coincidence? Faced with this enigmatic situation, the ICPO turns to L, the shadowy intellect who has solved numerous unsolved cases worldwide. Although L is known for not involving himself in cases that do not interest him, this particular case piques his interest. He declares, "This is a heinous murder case that must not be tolerated" and even speculates that the culprit is already in Japan.

On the one hand, Yagami Light, with the intention of ensuring that the existence of his Death Note is never discovered, had modified the drawer of his desk in his room into a false-bottomed compartment. A current runs through the lower compartment where a diary is placed on top. If one were to attempt to forcefully open it without a non-conductive ballpoint pen refill inserted in between, gasoline would leak and ignite, setting the Death Note on fire. This idea of creating such an object so casually, even if he is exceptional, is a terrifying concept for a high school student to have.
