Jinshi's Many Faces! Jinshi Misunderstands Maomao's Words in "The Apothecary Diaries," Showing Uncharacteristic Expressions That Are Hilariously Entertaining

Even Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Otsuka) can make such faces... In the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," there is a scene where Jinshi is completely thrown off by Maomao's (voiced by Aoi Yuki) actions, displaying a series of childlike expressions.

One day, Maomao used a hairpin given to her by the military officer Lihaku (voiced by Kenji Akabane) at a garden party to return to her hometown. The hairpin carried meanings of showing one's favorite or as a token of courtship. However, Lihaku did not give the hairpin with courtship in mind, and Maomao understood that. Maomao had Lihaku become her guarantor in exchange for introducing him to the three beauties of Rokushokan.

However, when Jinshi learned that Maomao had returned home using Lihaku's hairpin, he misunderstood and thought Maomao had accepted Lihaku's courtship. Jinshi's reaction, far from his usual sparkling smile and playful demeanor towards Maomao, was one of shock and lack of composure. When Maomao returned to the harem, Jinshi glared at her intently and called her into the reception room. He was restless, tapping his foot in agitation, and interrogated her, "What kind of man is this Lihaku?" He further pouted childishly, saying, "You received a hairpin? I thought I also gave you one, but I never heard anything about it."
