The "Macross" series, which is loved as a landmark in SF anime, is known for its unique story development that stands out from other anime, combining the elements of "mecha action," "singing," and "love triangles." Alongside its innovative narrative, the songs performed by in-show artists have sparked significant attention over the years. As a new anime installment has already been announced, the program revealed the audition for the new series' singing heroine: the "Macross x Sunrise 'New Macross' Super Dimensional Diva Audition 2025."
For the first time in the series, the audition's challenge song is a new track, with the title "Ai to Ai" now unveiled. Additionally, a special audition project titled "Ai to Ai Sung by..." was announced, featuring past divas and special guests performing the challenge song. The first of these performances, Minori Suzuki's "Ai to Ai Sung by..." video, was premiered within the program.
Afterwards, when asked about her experience singing it, Suzuki commented, "It was really difficult," and humorously added, "If I were told to perform it live, I might find myself scratching my head... (laughs)." She offered advice, saying, "It has the essence of Macross, and the lyrics have a lot of 'Listen to my song' messages, so I hope everyone sings it with the spirit of 'Listen!'"
