The currently available streaming anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is based on the manga of the same name by author Kanehito Yamada and artist Tsukasa Abe, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday." Set in a world after the demon king's defeat, the story follows the elf mage Frieren, who has lived for over 1,000 years, on a journey to understand humans better, alongside her apprentice Fern and the warrior Stark (voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi).
The original manga, which has received numerous awards and immense support and acclaim, has exceeded 24 million copies in circulation with 13 volumes currently published. The TV anime, aired from September 2023 to March 2024, became a massive hit, with several related keywords trending on X (formerly Twitter) after each episode's broadcast. The second season of the anime is set to air in January 2026.
