"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime based on a light novel by Natsu Hyuuga. It has been adapted into a comic and the series has surpassed 40 million copies in circulation. It's a mystery entertainment show where Maomao, a daughter of an apothecary with an abnormal obsession with poison and medicine, and Jinshi, a mysterious and handsome eunuch, tackle difficult cases that occur in the palace.

[Synopsis]
Invited by Queen Lou Lang’s father, Shisho, to go hunting, Maomao leaves the inner palace for a while to accompany Jinshi. Along with Jinshi, Gaoshun, and Gaoshun's son, Basen, they head to the land governed by Shisho's clan, Shihoku Province. During the lavish banquet held there, Jinshi keeps the mansion's windows tightly shut and spends his time using a mask and an alias. Maomao finds Jinshi's behavior curious, but behind the scenes, a certain conspiracy is beginning to unfold.
