Is This the Face of a Man Driven Mad by Jealousy... In "The Apothecary Diaries," Jinshi's Jealousy Towards Maomao and Lihaku Makes Him Unrecognizable

A dark emotion is welling up from Jinshi... In the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," the usually sparkling and smiling handsome Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Otsuka) is seen staring at Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yuki) from the shadows with an aura of full-on jealousy - it's almost like a horror scene!?

Jinshi, the eunuch who manages the inner palace, is not only an incredibly handsome man but also maintains a gentle attitude and polite speech in front of the consorts and court ladies. However, he sometimes shows a somewhat childish side towards Maomao, who he's interested in, and those close to her.

In episode 19, Maomao and the military official Lihaku (voiced by Kenji Akabane) were secretly discussing recent frequent incidents and accidents. When Maomao hinted at her deduction that the court lady Suirei (voiced by Kaori Nazuka) might be involved, Lihaku laughed and said, "You're smarter than you look!" and true to his friendly and straightforward character, heartily slapped Maomao on the shoulder. Suddenly, a voice was heard saying, "You seem to be having fun..."

When the two looked towards the source of the voice, they saw Jinshi peering at them from behind a pillar with a resentful expression. Jinshi's overall dark and negative aura was completely different from his usual sparkling smile. While Maomao seemed unfazed, saying "It's not particularly fun," Lihaku looked startled and hastily excused himself, saying "Well then! I'll be off!"

Jinshi seemed to be quite bothered by how friendly Maomao and Lihaku appeared, and even after returning to his room, he was in such a bad mood that he said to Maomao, "You seem to be quite close with that military official."
