"YAIBA Samurai Legend" is based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" by Shogakukan from 1988 to 1993. The story begins with a wild child, Yaiba Kurogane, who is striving to become a true samurai and is training in the jungle. His destiny changes when he encounters the skilled kendo practitioner Takeshi Onimaru. The original TV anime aired in the 1990s, and this marks the second anime adaptation after 31 years.

[Synopsis]
Yaiba Kurogane is training daily in the jungle with his father, Kenjuro, and others, aiming to become a true samurai. By a twist of fate, they meet a tiger named Kagetora in the jungle and return to Japan, where they stay with the Mine family, friends of Kenjuro. The Mine family's daughter, Sayaka, is bewildered by the wild Yaiba but starts living with him. One day, when Yaiba visits Sayaka's school with her, he has a fateful encounter with Takeshi Onimaru, a skilled kendo practitioner.
