"From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman" (commonly known as "Old Man Sword Saint") is based on a light novel by Shigeru Sagazaki, with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. The manga adaptation by Kazuki Sato is also serialized, with the series having surpassed 7 million copies in circulation. It is an "old man rising fantasy" where Beryl Gardinant, who has raised numerous disciples as the master of a swordsmanship dojo in the countryside, is called to the royal capital to become an instructor for the knights.

Synopsis
Allucia reflects on her journey from her first encounter with Beryl to the present. Hidden within is her earnest desire that began in her childhood and the compelling reason she must invite Beryl as an instructor. Meanwhile, Beryl, while walking through town with Curuni, reunites with his former disciple Ficelle. Though Beryl is surprised by a glimpse of magic shown by Ficelle, another magician he encounters afterward astonishes him even more.
