"Chiikawa" is a popular manga series by illustrator Nagano, first posted on X (formerly Twitter) starting in 2020. It won the grand prize in the 'Japan Character Award 2022' and again in 'Japan Character Award 2024' announced in July 2024. The contrast between the small, cute characters and the harsh world they inhabit has won widespread popularity among both adults and children, with the account amassing over 3.89 million followers to date.
The anime version of "Chiikawa" airs within Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Friday around 7:40 am. Starting in April 2025, new episodes will pause for about three months, during which time popular past episodes will be rebroadcast. Moreover, "Chiikawa's" first-ever smartphone app, "Chiikawa Pocket," was released on March 27, and is available in 43 countries and regions worldwide, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the United States. The app has surpassed 2 million downloads.
