This depiction may symbolize Char's idealized memory of Sayla, or Artesia, from their childhood. In reality, Sayla has already become a poised female officer and is independent, but to Char, she remains the "sister he must protect."

The Sayla in Char's recollection seems as if she could be saying, "Big brother, I love you!" Although the gap is amusing, it also proves just how much Char is obsessed with the role of being her brother.

From this scene onward, the relationship between Char and Sayla becomes even more complex. Despite being in opposing positions, Char's obsession with being the "brother" in some corner of his heart eventually invites tragic confrontations in later episodes.

If even that sound effect contained Char's desire, then perhaps it is, indeed, "a bit overbearing as a big brother"... or more accurately, a complete siscon.

The anime "Mobile Suit Gundam" is a robot anime produced by Sunrise that aired from April 1979 to January 1980, directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino. It pioneered a new genre called "real robot anime," greatly influencing subsequent robot anime. Though its viewership ratings were not great at the time, its popularity surged with reruns and theater releases, leading to the "Gunpla" boom. Many later Gundam series and spin-offs have been produced, and it remains highly popular today.
