"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime adaptation of a light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It has been serialized in two monthly magazines and has surpassed 40 million copies in the series’ total publication. The TV anime aired continuously for two seasons starting in October 2023, with Maomao's deducing drama as she works as a "poison tester" in the inner palace, and the comedic exchanges between Maomao and the beautiful eunuch Jinshi gained popularity and became a significant topic. Season 2 began airing in January 2025.
