"Char!! It's not about that, lol" Viewers Erupt Over "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" Homage to Eyecatches

In episode 2 of the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," which has been airing in sequence from April 15, there was a moment that greatly excited Gundam fans, apart from the main content of the episode, at "that timing."

In episode 2, there are three moments where eyecatches are inserted. The first two occur before and after the commercial break, with the first eyecatch before the break being a quiet display of only the episode title. This is the same direction used only in the first episode of "Mobile Suit Gundam." The second eyecatch after the commercial looks identical to the first but is an homage to the eyecatches inserted from episode 2 to episode 11 of "Mobile Suit Gundam."

Considering the homage to the first Gundam was already abundant by this point, the eyecatches alone stirred excitement on social media with comments like "Even the eyecatches!!" and "Hey, they did the eyecatches too, lol." However, it was the third eyecatch that surpassed all this excitement.

Without a break before or after a commercial, an eyecatch was suddenly inserted at a moment when the story had reached a pause. Moreover, it was played after Char's mobile suit destroyed an enemy with a beam saber and delivered an important line, "Is it Gundam...? Perhaps this mobile suit is the key to future strategies." The eyecatch was the "beam saber striking cut," a perfect recreation of the eyecatch inserted from episode 12 to episode 42 of "Mobile Suit Gundam."
