"YAIBA Samurai Legend" is based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) from 1988 to 1993. It tells the story of a wild child, Yaiba Kurogane, who trains in the jungle aiming to become a true samurai, and his fateful encounter with the skilled swordsman, Takeshi Onimaru. The series was also adapted into an anime in the 1990s, making this its second adaptation after 31 years.

Yaiba learns from his father, Kenjuro Kurogane, that to counter Onimaru's strength, he needs another demon sword, the Thunder God Sword. He sets out for Tengu Mountain to meet the legendary swordsman Musashi Miyamoto, who has allegedly lived for 400 years, to obtain it.
