[Photos/Images] This is the True Strength! Fern's Silent Pursuit of the Demons in "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is Too Cool 1st

In the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose) is known for her calmness inherited from her master Frieren and her overwhelming sense of strength that she exudes at a young age. Episode 9 captivated viewers with Fern's expressionless and relentless attack on the formidable demon Lugner (CV: Junichi Suwabe).

Currently, the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is being broadcast, based on the manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday," with original work by Kanehito Yamada and artwork by Tsukasa Abe. Set in the world "after" the Demon King has been defeated, it narrates the story of Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki), a magician who has lived for over 1,000 years, embarking on a journey to "understand people." The original comics have gained immense support and acclaim, with numerous awards and over 24 million copies in circulation across 14 volumes. It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime will air from January 2026.

In Episode 9, which depicted a fierce battle with demons, Fern faced off against Lugner, known as the "Beheading Official." Lugner, a demon who dedicated most of his life to magic, was a superior opponent for Fern. Gradually, Fern found herself cornered by Lugner.

However, Fern was also a magician with exceptional magical manipulation skills, recognized by Frieren. Possessing a magical "speed" even Frieren could not match, Fern began to fend off Lugner's fierce attacks with astonishing reaction speed, even defending from attacks from behind without a glance. In assault, too, she overwhelmed Lugner, who should have surpassed her in terms of magic and skill, with her sheer number of attacks. Even Lugner could not conceal his agitation, exclaiming, "Frieren, what kind of training did you drill into this little girl?"

Targeting a depleted magical power, Lugner attempted to drag Fern into a war of attrition, but Fern continued to bombard Lugner with magical attacks without a change in her expression. Methodically and mercilessly, she pursued Lugner and finally blasted his body away with the "magic to kill demons" (Zoltrac).
