Even the Genius Spy Loid Cannot Decipher Anya's Deep Psyche in "SPY×FAMILY"

I can't help but wonder what kind of insight a real psychiatrist would offer! In episode 20 of the anime "SPY×FAMILY," Loid Forger (voiced by Takuya Eguchi) finds himself baffled by the inscrutability of Anya Forger's (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki) deep psyche.

Tasked at school with a social studies project to research a job of interest, Anya decides to investigate her father Loid's work. Loid, an exceptionally sharp spy with outstanding observational skills and memory, poses as a psychiatrist at Berlin General Hospital for public appearances.

Visiting the hospital, Anya is shown around by Loid and takes the opportunity to interview him about his career motivations. Using her telepathic abilities, she reads the minds of Loid's colleagues to gauge his reputation and performance at work, all the while diligently taking notes.

While Anya is observing the examination room, Loid is called by a fellow spy and needs to step out. As the examination room contains a hidden passage, Loid instructs Anya to quietly play with the "sandbox" until he returns, as he doesn't want her to interfere with the room. The sandbox is a therapeutic method where one can place figures and items in a box as they like, supposedly revealing deep psychological states.

However, after reading Loid's mind and learning about the hidden passage, Anya mischievously pulls the lever to open it right after Loid leaves the room. She secretly enjoys exploring other rooms through the passage.

When Anya returns to the examination room from her exploration, she senses Loid's imminent return. Panicking, she thinks, "Papa's coming back!" and hurries to "create something!" She glances at the sandbox and, without thinking, throws all the items and figures into it, causing complete chaos.

Upon seeing the chaotic sandbox, Loid puts on a serious expression and says, "Wh-What is this... I've never seen a case like this before." Together with Anya's vague explanations, he concludes, "I don't understand it, but it's an utter disaster!"

Loid begins to earnestly analyze the chaotic sandbox Anya created, reasoning that it's natural for Anya, brought to an unknown adult from the orphanage, to be under extreme stress, her inner darkness escalating and growing. He reflects, blaming himself, thinking, "This is my weakness. I'm a failed spy! Immediate care is needed!" Consequently, he starts treating Anya with greater kindness than usual.
