Two Important People Lost in a Single Moment... Hathaway's Inevitable Fall to Darkness in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack"

It would not be an exaggeration to say that he was destined to fall into darkness. Hathaway Noah (voiced by Nozomu Sasaki) attempted to persuade Quess Paraya (voiced by Maria Kawamura), for whom he had developed feelings, to leave Neo Zeon. However, after losing her, he faced a tragic outcome where he also took away someone precious to Amuro Ray (voiced by Toru Furuya).

Hathaway, son of Bright Noah, boarded the battleship Ra Cailum with his father's permission to pursue Quess, who had been drawn to Neo Zeon Supreme Leader Char Aznable's words. The Ra Cailum was working to prevent Neo Zeon's operation to drop the asteroid Axis onto Earth.

When Amuro launched in his ν Gundam, Quess confronted him in her Alpha Azieru, determined "not to let him reach Char," and battle ensued. Sensing this conflict from within the Ra Cailum, Hathaway rushed out of the bridge exclaiming, "Just yelling at each other isn't enough! Quess! That won't work!"

Hathaway discovered an unmanned Jegan, boarded it, and headed toward Axis to find Quess. Upon reuniting with her, he opened his hatch and desperately tried to persuade her. However, Quess rejected him, saying, "I hate children! They're so presumptuous!"

Just then, Chan Agi (voiced by Mitsuki Yayoi), Amuro's lover who had deployed in a Re-GZ, arrived at the scene. While urging Hathaway to leave, Chan fired a grenade launcher at Quess's Alpha Azieru. The attack struck the Alpha Azieru directly, causing Hathaway to lose the person he loved right before his eyes.
