"From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman" is an anime based on the novel by Shigeru Sagazaki, with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. The original work has surpassed 8 million copies in its series sales and tells the story of Beryl Gardinant (voiced by Hiroaki Hirata), a humble middle-aged swordsman who runs a dojo in the countryside. He is appointed as a special instructor for the royal knight order through the efforts of his former disciple and faces various formidable foes.
