In episode 43 of the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," which began airing sequentially on May 23, Jinshi (CV: Takeo Ōtsuka) generated buzz on social media even though he appeared only briefly in Maomao's imagination. Viewers were excited, commenting, "He's sulking, lol," and "I'm happy to see him trending!"

The 43rd episode, titled "Festival," depicts Maomao (CV: Aoi Yūki) after being threatened by Suirei (CV: Kaori Nazuka) and brought from the inner palace to a village deep within the forest. As preparations for the festival unfold, Shisui (CV: Asami Seto) tries to tie Maomao's hair and says, "It feels lonely with just a ribbon," offering to lend her own hairpin. In response, Maomao says, "I actually have a hairpin... Could you use this one?" and pulls out the hairpin Jinshi gave her earlier. When Shisui sees the hairpin and asks, "Hey, if I asked you for it, would you give it to me?" Maomao imagines a sulking Jinshi turning away and replies, "No."
