As the fourth official interview for the "JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie", which premieres on May 30, an interview with Tatsuya Kitani, who performed the theme song, has been released.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga series by Gege Akutami, with total circulation surpassing 100 million copies. Following the first season of the TV anime, the film "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," and the second season "Hidden Inventory/Premature Death" & Shibuya Incident, each installment has received widespread attention. Now, with the sequel "Culling Game" officially getting an anime adaptation, the series continues to draw increasing excitement.
In the interview, Tatsuya Kitani talked extensively about the emotions he poured into the song and his impressions of the work. Furthermore, beginning May 30, the same day the Movie Compilation Edition opens, the theme song "Ao no Sumika (Acoustic ver.)" will be available for streaming, and it was also announced that he will appear on TBS’s "CDTV Live! Live!" airing on Monday, June 2.
■Theme Song Artist Tatsuya Kitani Official Interview
—As "Ao no Sumika (Acoustic ver.)," has once again been chosen as the theme song for the Movie Compilation Edition, could you share your thoughts upon being invited to participate in this project anew?
I believe "Ao no Sumika" was chosen again because people felt it fitted "Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death." So, my pure feeling is one of happiness. Personally, I also associate "Ao no Sumika" directly with "Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death," so it’s truly an honor that they decided to trust me with the theme song for the movie edition as well.
—"Ao no Sumika" was a great match for the world of the series, but this time the Acoustic version seems to further amplify the sense of bittersweetness in the story.
As an opening theme for the anime, the song plays before the main story begins. That’s why I didn’t want to limit it to just a “bittersweet song” or a “refreshing song” that would give away the direction of the story. "Hidden Inventory/Premature Death" is a narrative that, amid the depiction of vibrant youth, weaves in brutal developments. Since the premise has Satoru Gojo looking back on his youthful days, I wanted the song, too, to have a bright and refreshing feeling, yet carry a faint hue of wistful sadness. However, for this Movie Compilation Edition, the theme song plays after viewers finish watching the main story. Since the song is played with knowledge of the conclusion, I rearranged and shifted it to emphasize a more sorrowful and melancholic tone.
