Incidentally, in other entries in the "Gundam" franchise, there are mobile suits that can communicate with humans. For example, the Gundam Aerial from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury" is depicted as possessing self-awareness, and this facet is deeply tied to the mysteries of its narrative.

Additionally, in the latest series, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," Shuji Ito (voiced by Shimba Tsuchiya) frequently paraphrases the will of the “Red Gundam” with lines like, “…That’s what the Gundam is saying.” There are also moments when GQuuuuuuX seems to respond to the emotions of the protagonist, Amate Yuzuriha — nicknamed Machu (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa). Perhaps the day when we see a “talking Gundam” like in episode 18 of "Mobile Suit Gundam" isn't so far off!

The currently available anime "Mobile Suit Gundam" was originally broadcast from April 1979 to January 1980 and was produced by Sunrise, directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino. Pioneering the new genre of “real robot anime,” it profoundly influenced all subsequent robot anime. Although its viewership ratings during its original run were underwhelming, its popularity soared through reruns and theatrical movie releases, sparking the "Gunpla" model kit boom. Numerous sequels, spin-offs, and derivative works in the Gundam series have been produced ever since, and the franchise remains highly popular to this day. From April 2025, the new anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" is currently airing.
