“Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-” is a light novel centered around a boy who is summoned to another world. Affectionately known as “Re:ZERO,” the series originally began serialization in 2012 on the online novel posting website Shousetsuka ni Narou. It was later published as physical books in 2014, and as of May 2025, 40 volumes have been released.

The series has also expanded into other media, including manga adaptations and games, and when combined with the novels, it boasts a worldwide cumulative circulation of over 13 million copies.

The anime’s first season aired from April to September 2016, followed by the second season, “Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- 2nd season,” which aired in two parts from July to September 2020 and January to March 2021. The third season, “Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- 3rd season,” aired from October 2024 to March 2025. In addition, a fourth season is scheduled to begin broadcasting in 2026.

About “Re:ZERO”

The main character of the story is Subaru Natsuki, a Japanese high school student who is suddenly summoned to another world. Soon after his arrival, Subaru gets caught up in trouble and immediately falls in love at first sight with Emilia, a beautiful silver-haired girl who helps him. However, as he tries to help Emilia recover her stolen insignia, Subaru is killed. Upon waking up right after being summoned, Subaru realizes he has the ability to return from death, known as “Return by Death.”

Natsuki wants to support Emilia, who is a candidate to become the next monarch of the kingdom, but both Emilia and the residents of Roswaal L. Mathers’ territory, who support her, are targeted by mysterious organizations and assassins. Natsuki repeatedly uses his “Return by Death” ability to help Emilia and those around her.
