In episode 9 of the anime “APOCALYPSEHOTEL,” which began airing sequentially from June 3, a video letter prepared by Mujina before her passing to celebrate her granddaughter's wedding was played. The inclusion of an insert song sung by renowned voice actress Yoshiko Sakakibara, who plays Mujina, moved viewers to tears, with comments such as, “I couldn’t help but tear up,” and “It was the Yoshiko Sakakibara show... (crying).”
Episode 9, “A Bookmark for Today in the Guest’s Life,” features the simultaneous occurrence of Ponko (voiced by Sumire Morohoshi) and Ponstein’s (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) wedding and the funeral of Ponko’s grandmother, Mujina. In the middle of the ceremony, a video letter Mujina prepared while she was alive, wishing wholeheartedly to bless her granddaughter's marriage, was played.
Reflecting on her life, Mujina spoke gently, saying, “I was very, very, very happy.” Taking on a grandmotherly tone, she advised, “Ponko, there’s just one thing you must not forget,” and finally added, “Be even happier than Grandma.” Furthermore, Mujina began singing “Ponpoko Uta,” saying, “I dedicate this song, passed down from the star of my hometown.” As Ponko softly sang along, tears streamed down her face.
