Anime “I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!” Dubbing Behind-the-Scenes! Ayana Taketatsu Talks About the “Honey Trap” Scene with Liam: “I Had So Much Fun Recording It!”

A special program, “TV Anime ‘I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!’ Final Battle Imminent!? Our Own Banfield News Bureau!” was exclusively broadcast for free on ABEMA on Saturday, May 31 at 7 PM.

The show gathered heroines’ cast members Reina Ueda (as Amagi), Ayana Taketatsu (as Nias Carlin), and Mikako Komatsu (as Christiana Leta Rosebreia). The three discussed the charms of their respective characters, shared behind-the-scenes stories from the dubbing sessions, and had lively conversations, including production trivia.

“I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!” is a misadventure territory management fantasy where the protagonist, Liam, is reincarnated into a count's family ruling a remote planet and becomes a lord at a young age. Learning from his tragic previous life—caused by being too virtuous—he decides to act as a “corrupt lord,” yet paradoxically his popularity with the people continues to rise. The series is also noted for its grand cosmic scale and high-quality mechanical scenes. At first, a digest of the story so far was shown as the three cast members discussed the appeal of their characters.

Amagi is an AI maid robot who serves Liam. Reina Ueda shared that there are moments that make you wonder whether, despite being an AI, Amagi might have emotions, and that balancing the aspects between robot and human was a challenge.

During dubbing, she was directed to deliver lines with a “navigation system-like warmth,” and revealed, “I think Amagi’s voice ended up being that of a maid robot who’s easy for humans to converse with.” She added, “Depending on the scene, the ‘meter’ between robotic and human shifts, and there are upcoming moments that will really make you think, ‘Ah, so that’s how she is in this situation!’ So please pay special attention to Amagi from episode 9 onward!” talking about highlights for Amagi.

Introducing Nias, a technical lieutenant working in the Imperial weapons factory—an exceptional engineer with sexy appeal but also a somewhat airheaded personality, which has led fans to call her a “beautiful but disappointing woman.” Ayana Taketatsu touched on this and said, “She’s earnestly working and doing her best to seductively appeal to Liam, seriously!” which brought laughter.

When a scene showed Nias attempting to use a honey trap on Liam to sell him a new battleship, only to be easily brushed off, it perfectly encapsulated her “beautiful but disappointing” trait. Reina Ueda and Mikako Komatsu burst into laughter, exclaiming, “He’s not phased at all!” Reminiscing about the recording, Taketatsu said with a big smile, “That was fun! I had so much fun doing that scene!” which caused further laughter.
