In the following episode 7, Psycho Gundam rampaged through the colony, utterly destroying the city. As a result of this catastrophic blunder by the customs officer, people online commented, "The customs guy is the real culprit," "It's ridiculous how clueless he was," and "The purple part of the so-called air conditioner sticking out never gets old—still hilarious every time."

Incidentally, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" is packed with homages to the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series. It's even been suggested that the bespectacled customs officer himself might be based on a character from "Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket," where a similar bespectacled male customs officer appears—and makes the mistake of letting a mobile suit hidden among cargo pass inspection without noticing.

It's unclear if the characters are actually the same person, but this overly niche detail also attracted attention, with comments like, "I never thought the customs officer from War in the Pocket would show up! Lol," and "GQuuuuuuX is just packed with deep references from start to finish!"

"Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" is the latest entry in the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, ongoing since 1979. The story follows high school girl Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), who leads a peaceful life in a space colony until, after meeting the mysterious girl Nyaan (voiced by Yui Ishikawa), she becomes caught up in the illegal mobile suit dueling competition known as "Clan Battle." With joint production by Studio Khara, known for the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series, and Sunrise, this project has generated significant buzz. The theatrical advance release premiered this January prior to the TV broadcast and was a major box-office hit, grossing approximately 3.4 billion yen. A nationwide re-release across 368 theaters is slated to begin on June 20.
