This unexpected side of Frieren, usually a high-level mage, has sparked great buzz online with comments such as “I love clumsy Frieren,” “Her little blunders are comforting,” and “Her dejected face is adorable.” While Frieren herself is depressed, many people also commented, “Curly-haired Frieren is cute too,” “It suits her,” and “Elegant Frieren is great as well.”

Even though a spell to identify treasure chests revealed with 99% certainty that the contents were a mimic, Frieren confidently declared, “There’s no doubt this contains a precious magical tome. My years of experience as a mage tell me so,” and once again got bitten by a mimic after opening it. Episode 23, packed with such charming moments, truly deserves to be called a “healing” episode.

The anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” is based on the manga of the same name, written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. The story unfolds in a world after the Demon King has been defeated, following Frieren, a mage who has lived for over a thousand years, as she embarks on a journey to “know people.” The original comic, which has received numerous awards and widespread acclaim, has surpassed 24 million copies in print as of volume 14. It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime will air starting January 2026.
