Shuichirō Umeda, Hina Yomiya, and Teppei Uenishi Look Back on the Entire First Season! Special “SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary” Cast Program to Air for Free on June 21 (Saturday)!

A special program titled “SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary Final Episode Eve Special” will be broadcast exclusively and for free on ABEMA, starting at 9:00 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, just before the airing of the final episode.

"SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary" is an anime adaptation based on the popular mystery novel series by Honobu Yonezawa, a Naoki Prize-winning author best known for his "Classic Literature Club" series such as "Hyouka." The series, with over 1.1 million copies sold, follows the story of Jōgorō Kobato, who once suffered bitter experiences due to his remarkable deduction skills. Aspiring to live as a “modest shoshimin” (ordinary citizen), he forms a “mutual-benefit relationship” with his like-minded classmate Yuki Osanai. However, despite their intentions, they repeatedly find themselves caught up in strange incidents and misfortunes, creating a youthful mystery drama.

The long-awaited anime adaptation premiered in July 2024, instantly captivating viewers with its meticulously constructed mysteries and the delicate interplay between Jōgorō Kobato and Yuki Osanai. The broadcast of the second season began in April 2025, resulting in even greater excitement among fans.

Now, ABEMA has announced the exclusive free broadcast of the special program “SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary Final Episode Eve Special.” Starring Shūichirō Umeda (as Jōgorō Kobato), Hina Yomiya (as Yuki Osanai), and Teppei Uenishi (as Takahiko Urino), the program will look back over the entirety of “SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary,” from the beginning of Jōgorō and Yuki’s relationship in the early episodes of Season 1 with the “Spring-Exclusive Strawberry Tart Case,” up to the currently airing “Winter-Exclusive Bonbon au Chocolat Case.” The cast will also discuss key highlights to look out for in the upcoming final episode. In addition, the program will reveal the ranking of favorite scenes submitted via the ABEMA Anime official X account.
