Frieren’s Poker Face Followed by “It’s dark! I’m scared!”—Show-Stopping Mimic Antics: “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End”

Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki), once again, gets swallowed by a Mimic during the First-Class Mage Exam. Her repeated habit of falling for the same trap has sparked comments such as, “She never learns, lol,” and “That was a rapid two-panel gag.”

In Episode 23, “Conquering the Labyrinth,” Frieren and company take on the challenge of conquering a dungeon in the second test of the First-Class Mage selection. During this trial, Frieren discovers a treasure chest. Fern (voiced by Kana Ichinose) uses magic to see through the chest’s true identity as a Mimic and warns her.

However, Frieren retorts, “The precision of that spell is 99%.” Confidently, she insists, “This has to be a valuable grimoire inside. My experience as a mage tells me so,” only to be swallowed by the Mimic as usual just moments later.
