At this moment, Serie’s “displeased-looking face” was the spitting image of Frieren’s own “shoboshobo face,” causing many viewers to chuckle with comments like “Serie-sama can make a shoboshobo face too?” and “So Serie can pull off that face as well, haha.” Additionally, since both Serie and Frieren are elves, some pointed out that “maybe it’s an expression unique to elves.”

The anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is based on the manga of the same name, with the story by Kanehito Yamada and art by Tsukasa Abe, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Set in a world after the Demon King has been defeated, it follows Frieren, a mage who has lived over 1000 years, as she embarks on a journey to “understand humanity.” The original manga, which has won numerous awards and earned wide acclaim and support, has surpassed 24 million copies in total circulation as of volume 14. It has also been decided that the second season of the TV anime will air starting January 2026.
