"It’s the Char’s Counterattack Theme Song!" Special Ending & Original Gundam Appearance Sends Fans Into a Frenzy – Episode 11 of the Anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX"

In the final moments of episode 11 of "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," an unexpected song played instead of the usual ending theme "Mou Dou Nattemo Iiya" performed by Suisei Hoshimachi. In a delightful twist that thrilled long-time Gundam fans, TM NETWORK’s “BEYOND THE TIME (Mobius no Sora wo Koete),” the theme song from the movie “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack,” was featured.

In episode 11, Char Aznable (voiced by Yūki Shin) and Shūji Itō (voiced by Shimba Tsuchiya) clash over Lalah Sune, who lies sleeping within the “Sharon’s Rose.” Shūji, whose true identity remains shrouded in mystery, revealed, “I came from the ‘other side.’ I’m here to end this world that she (Lalah) created.” Then, from what seemed to be a radiant light representing the “other side,” a mobile suit appeared — unmistakably the RX-78-2 from “Mobile Suit Gundam,” the original Gundam itself.

For this episode, rather than the usual ending, “Mou Dou Nattemo Iiya,” TM NETWORK’s “BEYOND THE TIME (Mobius no Sora wo Koete)” played at the end. This song was originally used as the theme for the 1988 film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.”
